About Instittute

Amongst 25 Project Directorates of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research  is one of the leading institutions.  It was established as National Research Centre for Medicinal and Aromatic Plants in the year 1992 at Boriavi in Anand district of Gujarat for the quality production, development of new varieties and development of Good Agricultural Practices of medicinal and aromatic plants.                                                                                                                                 
The institute is also working on several different technologies viz. organic farming, identification, purification and synthesis of active biomolecules of medicinal and aromatic plants, transfer of technology, capacity building and impact assessment of technologies, coordinate research and validation of technologies through AICRP on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants.
